Mezcal Margarita
Mezcal is a beautiful smoky liquor crafted in the Oaxaca region of Mexico. It is made from the same plant as tequila, the Agave. What separates Mezcal is that it is cooked in earth covered fires close to 24 hours over wood coals. The smoke from the fire infuses the agave with an incredible character that makes it our favorite here at Savour the Trip. We fell in love on our trip to Tulum Mexico a few years ago, and it remains our favorite. This Mezcal Margarita recipe is simple and is very focused on the smoky Mezcal flavor. You can modify this by adding a 1/2 oz of orange juice for a more classic taste. We also spice it up by making our own simple syrup with jalepeno added for a little heat! You’ll be transported to the idyllic Tulum, Mexico coast line with each sip, so grab the shaker and start enjoying this delicious Mezcal Margarita!
